Hospice Services

Hospice of the Big Horns at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County offers "physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and their families. Neither hastening nor postponing death, Hospice enhances the quality of life that remains. Nurses, home health aides, social workers, therapists, clergy, physicians, and volunteers are all part of this caring team."

Home Care Services

Hospital HomeCare services began in 1992, reaching out to people in their homes, providing skilled nursing services, patient and family/caregiver education and more, averaging over 2,500 home care visits per month . Hospital HomeCare continues to receive a "deficiency-free" rating from the Wyoming Department of Health Quality -- meeting or exceeding all Medicare standards (a distinction rarely earned and never earned by most home care organizations) -- reflecting the "outstanding care and case management provided by the HomeCare staff."

Sheridan County Public Health Services

Sheridan County Community Health Services (SCCHS) has been caring for our community since 1937 and is committed to preventing the spread of disease, preventing injuries, promoting healthy behavior, responding to disasters, and increasing access to health care. Over 25 programs from Adult Health Maintenance to Wellness Clinics are available through SCCHS. In 2005 a free clinic (open one evening per week) was established for indigent and uninsured populations.  The Wyoming Health Department has identified contact information for all offices in the State of Wyoming .

Senior Citizens Services

Sheridan Senior Center is a community-based facility with a collaborative team that is flexible and adaptive in meeting the needs of the Sheridan senior population and their families, while maintaining respect and dignity with regard to each person's unique history and experiences. Adjacent to the beautiful Whitney Commons park, across the street from the library, and within walking distance of the local YMCA and two senior living facilities, the Senior Center is truly a large part of the heart of Sheridan. Programming ranges from meals and transportation services to respite care, recreational and leisure activities, as well as outreach and in-home services.

The center's governing council was incorporated in 1972, after which community services began to be centralized through the Senior Center. They moved into their current facility in 1980, and have grown over the years with capital improvement projects for Day-Break (respite care), a permanent location for Meals on Wheels in 1991, and the final addition in 2004, including ADA accessible space, solely for the purpose of providing direct services to seniors.

 Advocacy & Resource Center

The Advocacy & Resource Center exists to empower people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and other forms of violence to realize lives of choice, safety and freedom. Services provided include:
  • A 24-hour crisis line;
  • Emotional support;
  • Shelter;
  • Criminal justice, social service and medical advocacy services;
  • Assistance with compensation and restitution applications;
  • Safety planning assistance, jail release notification, 9-1-1 phones;
  • Resource and referral services; and
  • Prevention/education programs to community groups and schools.

The Advocacy & Resource Center has received substantial support from the Sheridan community since its doors opened in 1980. Community members provide countless volunteer hours, in-kind contributions and thousands of dollars each year.
